Country Music Twins The Fry Brothers Sign With Hardrush
(PRWeb) January 14, 2007 -- Country music is set for a shake up with the announcement today that The Fry Brothers have signed signed with Indie label Hardrush Music.
In a deal that includes the commercial release of their debut CD, the twins Roy and Tim Fry are set to add a new dimension to Australian Country Music scene.
Tim and Roy Fry grew up in Hillcrest, Victoria and at the age of six their parents encouraged the boys to develop their natural harmonies and guitar skills. Their father, who played guitar, started teaching the boys: Tim played lapsteel and Roy played acoustic guitar. Both could sing with harmonies being a key feature.
With their father a founding member of the Ballarat Country Music Club, the twins performed throughout their childhood and teens as an acoustic duo in a succession of country to rock bands until they parted for a time whilst Roy completed a formal education in classical guitar and composition. Tim joined a touring country band playing pedal steel and performed at different venues throughout Victoria up to Queensland.
"You can't beat a range of songs that get your toes tapping and alert to hear more," tells Kelvin Fahey, CEO of Hardrush. "The meeting and subsequent follow-up recordings presented showed that they are not just a one hit wonder. When I first heard the boys I was impressed by the quality musicianship and true tone harmonies, common with girls, but such a gift in men. Their originals will have a ready market in Australia, but perhaps more significantly in North America."
The boys are also talented music engineers with Tim designing the tuning of a new pedal steel guitar made in the USA. Tim says, "The unit took three months in design and cost thousands, but it is unique in its range of tone and pitch. And for sure it's designed to last."
Roy adds "Now we are getting our songs out to the wider market we will be touring and playing festivals to develop our Victorian fan base nationwide."
The deal incorporates the production of The Fry Brother's first full CD release, publishing and touring assistance. The video featuring the first single "Yeah Had Enough" should receive airplay during end January, with the full self-titled CD available in February. Roy and Tim are set to launch the new CD at the Wondong Country Music Festival in March.
