The BummKinn Band Brings Texas Twang to Kid’s Music Scene

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) May 22, 2007-- Country music-loving parents seeking rootsy music for their twangy tots can snap, clap and boot-scoot along to the snappy Texas-sized tunes in the debut CD, Starry Skies and Lullabies, by THE BUMMKINN BAND.

Following the album’s release, the band was booked to play at the inaugural Stagecoach Festival, the saucy country sister to Coachella in Palm Springs. They’ll follow up that successful debut at the CMA Music Festival in Nashville (Friday, June 8) and have just been confirmed to play at the Austin City Limits Music Festival.

About the band’s first CD, reviewer Gregory Keer writes, “With song craft and musicianship Nashville would be proud of and words young kids can relate to, The Bummkinn Band has itself a blue-ribbon winner of an album.”

Featuring the original songs and lilting voice of Texas-born singer/songwriter Kimber Breaux “Rosie Mae BummKinn”, the first album includes rollicking nursery rhyme story-songs as well as lullabies that will put a small cowpoke to sleep faster than a bee sippin ' on a flower. She is joined on tour by Sam Nickell “Big Red BummKinn” and Ryan Bueter “Mighty Maverick BummKinn.”

Searching for inspiration for her music, Breaux chose traditional nursery rhymes as a background for many of her lyrics. “Nursery rhymes are familiar to parents and are easy for kids to remember, says Breaux. “I wanted to take the comfort of those rhymes and add a story that made sense for their lives today.”

The song, “Hey Mr. Dumpty” reflects on the mistakes that kids make with the understanding that they can also be a new beginning. Additional nursery songs such as “The Hope Song” are based on the rhyme Jack, Be Nimble and Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary suggest that if you believe in yourself, dreams can come true.

The CD, which is currently available at www.cdbaby.com and www.pokeypup.com , features Joe Bear BummKinn. Breaux says that he’s the “Buck Owens” of the stuffed animal world -- a teddy-sized fella with a grizzly-sized personality. The band is currently developing a TV show about Joe Bear and life in the band’s mythical hometown of Fish in A Tree County.
