Roxy Music Lives Within The Hippie Generation

Many changes had occurred during 1970s. It was a time for unprecedented political and social reforms, constraints and regulations. Cultural revolutions and various kinds of upheaval were a commonplace almost all over the world. You are a twenty plus member of a society with money to enjoy and a passion for music and dancing. You prepare yourself to get rid of week long tensions and, obviously, you deserve some enjoyment. You pick out a nice suit from the shelf to dress up handsomely like an European prince who is going for a oratory.

After an hour of hair styling and fine make up, you would leave in your favorite car to pick up your lovely girl friend. By the end of 1960s all frames of free spirited and care free love were nearly dead. Huge changes were noticed in dressing and appearance. Apart from change of dressing styles from tailored and formfitting to billowy, hairstyles attained new feathered look or lasting curls. Music was no exception for this transformation. Music of sixties was vastly diverse similar to peoples lifestyles. Rock and roll was the dominating one with many new kinds emerging day by day across the world.

Hippies were the bad boys of the 1960s. The term hippie was evolved form the term hipster. This culture first came in to being in the 1940s as a revolutionary one. The hippies loved music very much. The political uncertainty and revolutions that marred various countries inspired the music of that era and it became their theme song. In the 1970s the taste for music underwent a radical change. A lot of experiments were made in the field of music and gradually music produced by various electronic instruments conquered the field. Synthesizer guided music thus developed and achieved popularity.

In England many music bands came in to exist buy playing a few pups in their city of origin. Even though most of these bands got some fans following in some remote countries like Libya, only very few bands made it to the top. Roxy music was one of the music bands that evolved in the 1970s and made its way to the top. This band took ideas from a wide range of sources right from a student of art to a person who did not even a basic training in music. This band effectively made use of a synthesizer to popularize their music. This music band consisting of persons with different taste however had a good fan following. Like the group, the fans were also of different tastes and culture. Roxy music came in to existence in 1972. Their sound was known as avant garde. Roxy music soon conquered Brittan and the whole of Europe. They had a strong fan following in South America also. This music band became a hit in the United States when they performed a John Lennon song.

Roxy music had mostly youth as their fans who went on to create a separate culture known as British Punk movement in the end of 1970 and in the beginning of 1980. You cannot however blame Roxy music entirely for this. If you can not recollect any of the songs of Roxy music, just listen to the punk based modern alternative rock and the top 40. It is certain that you will remember Roxy music while you next listen to your favorite radio stations.
