Electronic Music Guide

There are many ways to enjoy music and sometimes it just depends on your mood or your activities. You probably wouldn't study for your finals while listening to dance music, and you wouldn't dance to a Beethoven symphony, so all kinds of music can have their ideal moment and situation in your life. But let me ask you one question: what's your favorite music of all?

Some music seems to find a way to your heart very easily. The second time you hear it on the radio, you find yourself humming, whistling or even singing it! But some of these songs leave your life as quickly as they entered it. Soon you lose interest, there's nothing more to discover and you're ready for the next hummable hit.

Other music works seem to be hard to grasp at first. They're complex and can appear intrusive, inaccessible or even dark at times, and you definitely don't love them at first listen. You probably even switch to something else very quickly! But a few moments later you say to yourself: no, wait. There was something about that music. I don't know what it was, but there was something special. Let's give it another chance sometime, I'm not in the mood now, but one of these days...

So a few days later you take the time to play that music and listen to it attentively. Oh yes, that excerpt is something that definitely had to exist, I can really identify with it. Well, the next one is a bit tricky, but still there seems to be something there for me. I need to keep listening to this stuff, it's definitely promising!

A few more listens and you are completely convinced. It was hard work to learn to appreciate that music, but once you do, it isn't going to vanish from your life anytime soon! You buy one of this group's albums, another one a few months later, and in a couple of years you've become a great fan.

This may be the ideal process to discover rich music jewels that are there waiting for the right time to enter your life. But sometimes you can use a little help. It is easy to overlook great music or never get around to giving it another chance. You never seem to be in the right mood, it takes a little bit of time and effort...

So I thought I would create a music guide featuring my favorite evocative music artists and groups. Their music is complex and rich and it really pays to give it a chance. But you don't need to start with the most complex pieces! All artists and groups, even the most complex ones, release some albums that seem to be more accessible, and not necessarily less interesting. These can help you appreciate their music from the beginning and give you the motivation to keep on discovering it.

The music guide I created features rich and fascinating music by Vangelis, Mike Oldfield, Jean Michel Jarre, Tangerine Dream, Enya and others. You get to watch many videos of each artist or group, sorted by stages of complexity. You can stop when you want and take it from there some other day. I love this music and I believe this is a great way to make it known to more people. You will find this evocative and electronic music guide at http://www.squidoo.com/magicalmusic.

I sincerely hope you will enjoy your journey into this magical world of music and that you will find it as refreshing and fascinating as I do.
