SoCo Rocks the Voodoo Music Experience in New Orleans
Louisville, KY (PRWEB) October 25, 2006 -- Grab your friends and head to the 2006 Voodoo Music Experience for two legendary nights of outrageous music, great cocktails, and New Orleans fun this Halloween weekend. Southern Comfort (SoCo) continues its tradition of supporting the music experience as spirit sponsor and local music stage sponsor. Grab a frozen SoCo & Lime and join us for a toast to music on October 28 and 29 in New Orleans' City Park.
SoCo returns to sponsor its seventh Voodoo Music Experience as co-host of the local music stage. The SoCo/WWOZ Stage honors the music of the region and provides a stage for local musicians to share their music at the festival. The SoCo/WWOZ Stage line-up includes the much-anticipated reunion and return of the Original Meters. Other confirmed acts include Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews, Soul Rebels, Hot 8 Brass Band, Kermit Ruffin's BBQ Brunch, Morning 40 Federation, Amanda Shaw, Cowboy Mouth and Friends.
"Voodoo Music Experience is the coming together of music, New Orleans, and SoCo for a legendary weekend with friends," said Laura Petry, Brand Manager, Southern Comfort. This year, the Voodoo Music Experience has teamed with WWOZ and Preservation Hall for Flambeau—a homage to the music and culture of the city. Talent for the Preservation Hall Tent includes, Rockie Charles, Ernie Vincent, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Wardell Quezergue' New Orleans Rhythm & Blues Review, Bingo, Marva Wright "Tribute to Mahalia Jackson," Otra, Jon Cleary, Irma Thomas, Big Chief Bo Dollis and The Wild Magnolia Indians. Beyond this, look for interesting musical collaborations from various acts on the bill.

The 2006 Voodoo Music Experience, with two main stages and five additional unique performance areas featuring Red Hot Chili Peppers, Duran Duran, Wu-Tang Clan, The Flaming Lips, My Chemical Romance, Pete Yorn, Social Distortion, Kings of Leon, Ozomatli, Secret Machines, Blue October, Kinky, Brazilian Girls, Ferry Corsten, Broken Social Scene, Drive-By Truckers, The Living Things, Jack's Mannequin, Joseph Arthur, Yerba Buena, The Rentals and The Whigs.
Southern Comfort also returns as sponsor of the "Road to Voodoo." This four-and-a-half week tour brings Ferry Corsten, an electronic/dance music artist, to 27 venues across the United States. SoCo is also involved in numerous other music events, including the exclusive spirits sponsor of the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and sole presenter of the SoCo Music Experience events.
