Arvel Bird Takes Indian Summer Music Award for Best Contemporary Instrumental -- Second Award in Four Months

Nashville, TN (PRWEB) September 21, 2006 -- Popular Native American fiddler, flutist and storyteller, Arvel Bird (Paiute/Me’tis), took the Indian Summer Music Award for best Contemporary Instrumental, it was announced September 10th at the awards ceremony in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, making this his second award in four months. Bird was selected over some of the top names in Native music for his work on Animal Totems 2. In June Bird scored a Native American Music Award (Nammy) for his Arvel Bird LIVE! CD that combines music from two earlier CDs, Animal Totems and Big Chief Quetoos along with the stories he is well known for.

Bird’s musicianship on Animal Totems 2 edged out Beyond Words by Gentle Thunder with Will Clipman & Amochip Dabney, Melodies of the Cane Flute Vol 2 by Estun-Bah features Tony Duncan & Darren Yazzi, Life is… by Eagle & Hawk and Live in Hell by Urban Surf Kings. Although he was unable to attend the awards due to a previous booking; however, Bird received word from his friend and fellow Nammy winner, Red Feather Woman, who was in attendance.

“I was surprised when Red Feather Woman called Saturday night to congratulate me. The band and I had just finished a concert in Omaha and were having dinner with some fans, so we were still just enjoying the end to a wonderful day. This award was icing on the cake,” Bird beamed.

Bird is quick to share the limelight, “Although the contemporary instrumental category is about musical performance, this award will be shared my friend and co-writer, Chris James, who wrote most of those songs with me, as well as Carlos Gonzalez, and my long time friend Chip McDaniel who collaborated with me on two of the songs. It is truly an honor to have been chosen among all the other talented musicians.”

As one of the top Native American recording artists, he performs and records in a number of diverse genres including blues, jazz, bluegrass, Celtic, Cajun, Western swing, American roots, and contemporary Native music making him one of the most unique and in-demand Native entertainers on tour.

Bird has ten CDs and one DVD to his credit. He is currently working on number eleven with his band One Nation. Last month he recorded a CD with Grammy nominated Peter Kater and Joseph Firecrow to be released under the RED FEATHER LABEL OR SILVER WAVE LABEL next year. He has also recently released a CD with Mary Redhouse, William Eaton and Will Clipman, as “Ananeah”. In addition to his other projects, Bird is working on a Me’tis fiddle CD and a flute CD.

Famous Subliminal Messages In Music

It is made in such a way so that the audience would not be aware that they are under the influence of such a 'trick' and would innocently be mesmerized by the songs they are listening too.
