This year we have chosen to make our Christmas donation to The Prince’s Foundation for Children & the Arts.
Children & the Arts is a charity engaging with disadvantaged children nationwide who do not have access to high quality arts activity because of either social or economic barriers. Through a network of partners they use the arts as a platform to inspire and enable personal and social development amongst those who are hardest to reach. Through their work, children learn that cultural venues are welcoming, accessible and exciting places to visit. They are the only national educational charity committed to ensuring that all children in the UK are inspired by the arts.
A local example of the good work they do involved 120 children from Bellenden Primary, John Donne Primary, Pilgrims Way Primary, and St John’s and St Clement’s Primary visiting the South London Gallery as part of Great Art Quest.
The visits were followed by creative art and storytelling sessions in school with professional artist Joanna Brinton, and storyteller Babek Gangei. In February 2013, participating children exhibited their artwork for friends, family and members of the public at South London Gallery.
A worthy cause, and we wish Children & the Arts and all our clients a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
