Another Christmas, and so another bake-off, and this year we’ve tackled the classic Buche de Noël (the Yule Log for the Franco-challenged).
The criteria for the voting this year were;
- Ring neatness
- Sponge quality
- X-mas factor
Each of these categories were scored out of 10 but taste accounts for 50% of the score, so the final scores were out of 80. With 17 judges, this gives a score out of a possible 1,280.
After the public release of individuals’ Easter bake-off scores caused some unsavoury reactions in the studio I’ve decided to keep these private. So with the appropriate fanfare (and with the smell of chocolate still very much in the air), below are the total scores.
So it was very tight, but Emma edged it by 3 points, pipping Rose to the coveted first place. Paul came in third with his log. It has to be said that the quality this year was extremely high, so well done everyone.
