Take a Peek at Dusted

Dusted have recently launched Peek, a series of talks which see people from different creative backgrounds invited in for an informal chat and showcase. Set on a monthly basis, the aim is to broaden our creative thinking and (perhaps) gain some inspiration along the way!

Last week we were thrilled to have a visit from two representatives over at Jelly agency. Based in Charlotte Mews, they are a creative content production agency that represent a range of talent from calligraphers to animators. In this instance we were very keen to see their animation work. As digital is at the heart of our agency it seemed most relevant to engage ourselves more with this ever growing and used practice.

As we were treated to a wonderful show reel of just a snippet of the work represented by Jelly, it became apparent just how diverse the topic of animation can be. From 2D reel to 3D, it was hugely insightful to see the approach well known (and some less known) brands had taken to promote themselves to a wider audience.

Many of the short clips drew a lot of laughter and it quickly became clear very that a touch of humour is a brilliant asset to any animation, not to mention a guarantee for it to stay in your mind afterwards!

‘A single life’, shortlisted for the Academy Award for Best Short Animated Film 2015, was a particular highlight. The stunning character design and vibrant animation was brilliantly comical, and we were not surprised to learn of its appreciation by those at the Oscars. It simply proved what story and wonderful execution could do.

We look forward to seeing more talks gather momentum over the coming year – so watch this space.

If you would like to be involved in the Peek series (and pop in to present to us here at Dusted) please do get in touch.
